The Au Pair Experience
The Au Pair experience duration is 12 months. Hopscotch Travel ensures you’re placed with a safe host family, enabling you to immerse yourself authentically in Dutch living. Host families offer accommodation (a private room within their home) and meals during your entire stay.
- 18-25 years old
- Extensive hours of childcare experience
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Understand and speak English well
- Commit for 12 months
- Can swim and ride a bicycle
- Be in good health. Only non-smokers are accepted
- A valid Passport (or proof that you have applied for one)
- Unmarried & no kids of your own
- No criminal record
Responsibilities
- Work roughly 30 hours per week
- Transport the children to and from school and arrange playdates
- Prepare meals
- Assist with homework
- Assist with general child-related chores, such as laundry, tidying the children’s bedrooms and play area
Included in this experience:
COSTS PAID BEFORE DEPARTURE
SIGN UP FEE (non refundable): R 1,500
PLACEMENT FEE: R 9,500
VISA HANDLING FEE: R 2,500
REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS (police clearance, medical, passport, unabridged birth and non marital certificates): R 2,000
DUTCH LANGUAGE COURSE (contribution paid in Netherlands): R 6,100
